2004 UPDATES

12/25/04:
Happy holidays everyone! Just a four-page update today (starting on 217, but I wanted to make certain I got it up for the holiday. The Doctor and co. are still facing "The Ambassadors of Death," and the colour's still going wonky. Oh, and Liz gets kidnapped, too.
"Incidentally, a happy Christmas to all of you at home!"

12/11/04:
Hey everyone -- *very* sorry for the late update, but it's finally here (starting on page 212)! It's time for the Silurians to go belly-up in the fishtank as their story comes to an end -- just in time for the Doctor and everyone to meet up with "The Ambassadors of Death!" And do not adjust your sets: the switching from color to black-and-white is totally natural. Have a Merry Christmas everyone, and come back here on Christmas Day for another update; it'll be ready, promise.

11/20/04:
Here we are, close to the end of "Doctor Who and the Silurians" (starting on page 207), as folks thoughout London start dropping like flies and Burt Reynolds gets violated by the Pig Man. Next time up, look for the conclusion to "Silurians" and the start of "The Ambassadors of Death!"

Here's a few preemptive greetings and celebrations to announce. The 23rd will mark 'Doctor Who's' 41st anniversary! We're closer than ever to the new series coming on the TV screens, and the excitement is growing more and more! Happy birthday, Doctor! On a much MUCH less important note, that same date will be this site's 2nd anniversary. Wow, two years -- and we're already up to 3,100 captions! My heartfelt thanks to the cappers who keep coming up with the wonderful material which you keep enjoying, and my thank to YOU for enjoying it so much that you keep coming back. Get ready for 2005; not only will we be showcasing the Eccleston series as soon as possible, but we'll have special other programming popping up as well (including the 'Destiny of the Doctors' live-action segments, Liz Shaw's return in 'The Zero Imperative,' and perhaps even another one of the BBC-webcasts). And finally, big waves in advance to all who are going to Chicago TARDIS later this week! I'm heading there myself, and look forward to getting together with other fans and friends, and having a great time!

11/5/04:
Hey everyone -- we're back with more hilarity in the Whoniverse! We continue on with "Doctor Who And The Silurians" with 202, as the Earth Reptiles are revealed at last, the Doctor and Liz enjoy a little Quiet Riot, and we find out what the Cappers think about Liz Shaw. Oh, and Happy Fun Brigadier gets taunted just a lil bit.

10/18/04:
Sure, the update's a few days early -- but with the new-series logo being unveiled by the BBC today, I figured it was as good a time as any to do a slight alteration on the main page's graphics. And in this update (starting on page 197), the third Doctor finishes his inaugral adventure against the Autons -- and gets swept up in Earth Reptile madness in "Doctor Who And The Silurians" (as well as a few sidesteps back to the Troughton era for a few funny bits).
And with this update we hit the big TWO-HUNDRED PAGE mark! Thanks to all the Cappers for their great material -- and to all you who keep visiting week after week. We couldn't do it without you.

10/8/04:
We get into the final-leg of 'Spearhead From Space' with five funny new pages (starting on page 192. Next time, we'll wrap up this story and begin 'Doctor Who And The Silurians!'

9/20/04:
The Doctor finds himself hip-deep in Auton-trouble as 'Spearhead From Space' continues with five new pages (starting with page 187. Look for more from the Nestene Consciousness in the next update as we inch closer and closer to the big 200-page mark!

And look over in the LINKS section, where I've added a banner to the *excellent* "Whoniverse" website. There's tons of great material to enjoy, including a 'Discontinuity Guide'-style listing of the Virgin and BBC novels. Great stuff!

9/7/04:
The first Doctor finishes off those pesky Daleks (starting on page 182) .... just in time for us to officially welcome Jon Pertwee's third Doctor to the site! The Cappers are already embracing the Pertwee-era with their own brand of skewed humor, so it looks to be a wonderful ride up through the end. In the meantime, let's get started with "Spearhead From Space," where the Doctor contends with a new face, and Happy Fun Brigadier contends with being taunted.

8/17/04:
The Doctor's still plugging away against the Daleks (new pages starting on 177) ... but don't worry. Next update he'll pull through just in time for us to welcome Jon Pertwee's era to the site! Next time, look for Liz, UNIT and Happy Fun Brigadier to make their debut in 'Spearhead From Space!'

7/30/04:
After the last few times of being late with the update, I thought I'd shock you all by BEING EARLY this time! We reach full-tilt boogie as the Doctor, Susan, Ian and Barbara make their escape from "The Daleks" (starting on page 172). Next time, we'll see them meet up with the Thals and get into even more mischief!

Also, since we've gotten another 25 pages in the bag, I've segmented them off (as I have the others) in their own section. At this rate, the next 25 will have the McGann opening-sequence background -- and hope against hope that 201-225 will have the Eccelston-sequence!

7/18/04:
Sorry for the delay, gang. But I'm back to wrap up the Troughton era (starting on page 167) with the finale of "The War Games." And before heading into the full-color era of the third Doctor, we take a quick step backwards to visit a classic from the William Hartnell era, "The Daleks!" Next update, look for the Kaled-mutants to make their formal first appearance with more from that story.

6/28/04:
We have five more pages of "The War Games" (starting with 162) to enjoy. Next update, look for the stunning conclusion of the second Doctor's trial (and era!), and the start of William Hartnell's "The Daleks" (or "The Dead Planet" .... or "The Mutants," depending on what programme guide you're reading).

6/12/04:
We're back with five more pages (starting with 157) from Patrick Troughton's "War Games." Next update, we'll continue on with that epic tale.

5/26/04:
Sorry for the few days' delay. But we've got five more pages of Whoniverse-related silliness to enjoy! Starting on page 152, we wrap up the fourth Doctor adventure (set in the future) "The Sontaran Experiment" and begin the final second Doctor adventure (set in the past -- or is it?) "The War Games!"

5/8/04:
Five new pages and 45 new captions to enjoy! We wrap up "The Seeds of Death" and get started on Tom Baker's "The Sontaran Experiment." Next update we'll finish that two-parter and start in with the final Patrick Troughton adventure "The War Games!"

4/25/04:
Four more pages from our adventure on the Moon (starting with 143) as we start to round up "The Seeds of Death." Next update, look for a few more from that -- and we FINALLY begin the Tom Baker two-parter "The Sontaran Experiment!"

4/9/04:
A bit of a delay, but here's the latest and greatest from the funny-folks capping DW! We have four more pages from "The Seeds Of Death" (starting with 139), with a particular one from The Secretive Bus about jelly beans which makes me chuckle each time I see it. Next update, look for more with the Ice Warriors on the Moon -- and yes, perhaps some from "The Sontaran Experiment."

3/20/04:"Change, my dear. And it seems not a moment too soon."
A few folks have make some wonderful suggestions about the site which I've decided to follow.
First, a few have commented on the graphics-heavy "CAPTIONS" listing, saying it takes a bit of time to load on their computers. I decided to take a fresh look at it, cleaned out my cache, and saw it took over a minute to fully load on my 56K connection. I'm a bit jaded: a few "Who" sites I go to have sections which take roughly as long (if not longer) to load, so I never really thought of anyone having trouble with mine before. So I've added a new PLAIN menu to the mix. It's a bare bones text listing of all of the captions which should be a help to those with slow connections. And for those of you who like the regular layout, don't fret -- it's still an option under the NORMAL menu listing.
Another worthwhile suggestion was that with the size of the site getting bigger and bigger, I offer a more specific menu as well. So for those of you with a specific interest in a certain Doctor or his era, you can check out the MENU BY DOCTOR section. I've posted up an episode-guide format, detailing all the stories plus links to the pages where they're captioned. There's even a point and click function to jump down to a certain Doctor, if you'd like.
And it's amazingly ironic that the new look would debut just as the new Doctor is announced! That's right, the BBC has formally announced actor Christopher Eccleston will be playing the Time Lord when the series returns next year! Welcome aboard, Chris!
And finally, to the update itself! We finish up "The Krotons" this time around (starting on 135) and begin on "The Seeds of Death!" Next time around, look for more with the Ice Warriors on the Moon, and just perhaps some of Tom Baker in "The Sontaran Experiment!" Enjoy, everyone!

3/4/04: Major apologies for the delay in updating, everyone! But we're back, bringing to a close "The Invasion" (starting on 130) and sending the Doctor, Jamie and Zoe off to the planet of the Gonds in "The Krotons!" Next update (on time, promise!), look for us to finish that story and start in on the Ice Warriors and "The Seeds of Death!"
In other news, if you're a fan of the outstanding fourth Doctor (and hey, who isn't?), then head on over to the fabulous fansite run by capper extraordinare LadyBlackAdder! There's tons of screen captures, desktop themes, AIM icons, and great a general sense of fun about Tom Baker's era.

2/9/04: Back again, with three more pages of Who-related whimsey! We return to "The Invasion" (on page 127) just as the Cybermen touch down on Earth and U.N.I.T. gets ready to kick some butt! Next update, look for us to finish that story and get started on "The Krotons!"
On a seperate front, "Caption Who" has won another award from the way-excellent Timelord site!

1/22/04: A small lil' update this time, with two more pages (starting on 125) from "The Invasion." And I've went ahead and segmented the last 25 pages the same as before to save on load-time on the main gallery. Come back in two weeks for more with U.N.I.T. and the Cybermen!

1/11/04: The first update of the new year! We finish off with "The Mind Robber" (on page 122) then get started on the incomplete "The Invasion," getting face-to-face with UNIT for the first time. Next update, look for more with the Brigadier and the boys!
